At approximately 7:15 p.m., amputee Adrianne Haslet crossed the Boston Marathon finish line, after spending nearly 10 hours on the course. She became the second person who lost a limb in the 2013 finish line bombings to complete the race on foot, after Patrick Downes finished earlier in the day.
“It’s just an awesome, awesome day and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world and I had a lot of people pulling for me as every runner does,” Haslet said after crossing the line, according to the Boston Herald.
Video from a spectator shows Haslet jogging that last 100 yards as police officers and volunteers cheer.
Near the half marathon mark, Haslet tweeted that she was having difficulties with her prosthesis. She stayed in a medical tent for more than an hour before returning to the route.
Across the web, celebrities including President Barack Obama offered their support for the accomplishment.
